FAQ

What does HVAC stand for?

HVAC is an acronym for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.  It refers to any of the systems for heating and cooling in your home or business.

How do I know if I have an existing warranty on my HVAC system?

Look for a label on the outside of your HVAC equipment that will have a manufacture date on it.  If it’s less than 5 years old, then it may be under warranty.  Our service technicians can verify the warranty status of your HVAC equipment with an inspection of your system.  Give us a call at 910-540-3709 to schedule an appointment to inspect your system.  Check out Dixon’s Comfort Club, our maintenance plan to help ensure that all your equipment is maintained and under warranty.

What happens during a service appointment?

A service appointment may be scheduled for various reasons and we will customize our visit to fit your needs.  Our technicians are experienced and equipped to do system inspections, repairs, maintenance visits, add-ons, and replacements.  Call us today at 910-540-3709 to schedule a service appointment for your HVAC system.

Is it important to have regular maintenance on my HVAC system?

Yes.  Regular maintenance of your HVAC system will result in parts and components that are inspected, cleaned, repaired, and even replaced as needed to keep your entire system functioning most effectively and efficiently.  An efficiently running system results in lower energy costs, cleaner indoor air, fewer emergency services, and assurance that your heating and cooling system remains under warranty.  Call us today at 910-540-3709 to schedule a service appointment for your HVAC system.  Also check out Dixon’s Comfort Club, our maintenance plan to make sure your HVAC system is worry-free and you are always comfortable!

Is there anything I can do on my own to maintain my HVAC system?

Of course!   Things you can do at home to keep your equipment running smoothly and efficiently:

  • Check filters and be sure they are clean and/or replaced.
  • Keep barriers like rugs, furniture, and drapes away from supply and return vents.
  • Keep outdoor equipment clear of all debris and accumulated dirt that could affect airflow.

Though there are many things you can do at home to be sure of proper airflow, resulting in better functionality and more efficiently running machines, one of the best ways to save money on your HVAC system is to keep it professionally maintained.  Join Dixon’s Comfort Club to be sure your systems are always maintained!

Does living by the beach have a negative effect on my heating and cooling system?

Unfortunately, yes.  You would be hard-pressed to find anyone who lives in the Carolina Beach, NC and greater Wilmington, NC areas who doesn’t love living here because of our proximity to the beach.  It has a positive effect in most ways but not on our HVAC systems!  Unfortunately the salt in the beach air can cause extra wear and tear on heating and cooling systems here and often reduces the life-span of this equipment.  That is why it is important to have regular maintenance on your HVAC system to be sure that it is cleaned and repaired on a regular basis.  This will lessen the negative effect of the salty air on your parts and components.  Join Dixon’s Comfort Club to be sure that your HVAC system is properly maintained!
